Nothing Left Undone...

My God,, my old body hurts today. I feel it wearing out—one layer of strength shed after another. But my gratitude soars anyway, lifted by the clarity of mind and heart You give me on this Your day.

Desperately, Lord, I want to remain strong and agile in thought and spirit for as long as I live. I can manage the aches and pains that nearly nine decades of life bring. But I plead with You for clarity of mind—for the ability to write, to speak, to minister until the time comes for You to take me home.

Help me not to leave undone what I ought to have done. Let no word go unsaid that You meant for my mouth to carry. Let no story go untold, no encouragement ungiven, no prayer unoffered.

Lead me every day I have left to honor and glorify You in all I do. Let my final chapter be the one You wrote for me to write.

For Jesus' sake. Amen.

"O God, from my youth You have taught me, and I still proclaim Your wondrous deeds. So even to old age and gray hairs, O God, do not forsake me, until I proclaim Your strength to the next generation, Your power to all who are to come." (Psalm 71:17-18)

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day." (2 Timothy 4:7-8)
