Dear Lord, my Light and my Salvation, thank You for bringing our entire family home safely from our#3 grandson's wedding this weekend. We praise You for the joy of the celebration and for Your protection over us.
Lord, we lift up the newlyweds. Bless them with a joy and wisdom that matches the elegance of the vows they have exchanged. Grant them the discernment to understand the vital difference between getting married and being married. Give them willing spirits to surround themselves with godly mentors who can teach them effective communication and the art of cultivating a servant's heart toward one another.
Bless this new husband and wife as they provide food and shelter for their future home. Sustain them through the pressures of their labor and the demands of earning an income. Teach them that marriage is not merely living for each other, but two joining hands and hearts to serve You. Instill in them a great spiritual purpose; may they eagerly seek Your Kingdom and Your righteousness first, trusting that all other needs will be met.
Help them not to expect perfection from one another, for only You are perfect. May they minimize each other's weaknesses, be swift to praise and magnify each other's strengths, and always view one another through the lens of patient, sacrificial love.
Lord, allow obstacles in their path if it is Your will, that their characters may be developed as they walk together. Give them enough fear to keep them tender, enough hurts to keep them humane, enough failures to keep their hands clenched tightly in Yours, and enough successes to encourage them in their walk with You.
May they never take each other's love for granted, but always experience the breathless wonder that exclaims, "Out of all the world, You picked me!"
And when life is done, may they be found then as now, hand in hand, praising and thanking You for each other. May they serve You faithfully until the day one lays the other gently into Your hands for eternity.
