Father, many days run together with no great ups or downs. Then, unusual and unexpected events thrust their unwanted heads into my path. My journey through this world has always had its peaks and valleys.
Lord, You know my down times are hard. I don't minimize the ache or pretend they're easy. But I choose to believe—they serve an important purpose. Pain and struggle help me change and grow stronger when I trust You in the midst of adversity. Not in spite of it—but through it.
Help me remember Your words: "I will have troubles in this world, but You overcame the world for me." That is enough. That truth is my anchor. When the waves rise, You stand taller. When the nights darken, You shine brighter.
So I give You thanks—not just for the good days, but for the refining fire on the difficult ones too. Praise Your Holy Name. Amen.
Verses for Today: "In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." — (John 16:33)
"We also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope." — (Romans 5:3-4)
"For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all." — (2 Corinthians 4:17)
"Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy." — (Psalm 126:5)
Closing Thought for Today:
A Thought for Today
When another unexpected event arrives (because they will), pause and ask yourself:
"What is this teaching me that comfort couldn't?"
"Where am I seeing God's hand hold me—even if quietly?"
"How can I praise Him today, not after the trial ends, but right here in it?"
Praising during the storm is where true faith takes root. I'm walking in that wisdom, May my next valley remind me I have already overcome. 🙏
