LORD Jesus, in the afterglow of the 250th anniversary of the United States, I beg You to help us all recall how we got here. Remind us of the cost. Remind us of the principles and values upon which we were built—not merely as a nation of men, but as a people under Your Providence.
Please enlighten my grandchildren. Open their eyes to the foundations from which we came. Give them understanding of the spiritual soil that allowed this freedom to grow. Help them to be the generation which hears the call to a revival of repentance, so that we may not lose the glory that has been our history.
Forgive us for failing to honor what You gave us. Where we have traded truth for convenience, or freedom for indulgence, grant us mercy. Restore to us the joy of Your Salvation, for the sake of Your sacrifice at Calvary.
Bind this nation back to Your heart, Lord. And bind my family back to Yours.
This I pray in Your holy name. Amen.
Verses for Today: "Command these things also to your children, that they may declare to their children's children the works of the Lord, and His righteousness." — (Psalm 78:6)
"For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is fully devoted to Him." — (2 Chronicles 16:9)
"Let us not forget all His benefits." — (Psalm 103:2)
"If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land." — (2 Chronicles 7:14)
A Thought for Today
I ask God to enlighten my grandchildren on "the stuff from which we came."
Share a Story: I remember WWII when my Dad and Uncles fought. Food and gas and tires were rationed. My Mom saved cream from the top oe milk cartons to churn butter in a mayonnaise jar. We were a nation in great fear. You have not known such fear.
Share a Value: I hold the truth that God's hand of favor will not always be on our country. Biblical records and history is adamant...Love and Honor God or He will cut us off. You will either follow God's plans or face destruction. As an aside, in the studies of The Last Times, there is no record of any nation resembling ours today. The ball is in your court.
Invite Them: "What do you want to leave behind as your legacy?" Turning the conversation forward.
I am planting seeds for a harvest will likely not see, but God sees every one. May our grandchildren hear the echo of our faith in their own voices soon. 🇺🇸🙏
