Today, MY LORD, I pray for that tiny piece of Middle East real estate—Israel.
As a student of the history of Israel, I confess I cannot fathom their continued existence surrounded as they are by sworn enemies. Humanly speaking, it should not be possible. Yet there they stand.
I believe You are not through with Israel yet. While I do not fully understand Romans 10–11 when "all Israel will be saved," I do believe Israel and Jerusalem are still important to You.
So today, I pray for the peace of Jerusalem even as I pray for Your Kingdom to come on earth as it is in heaven.
Even so, come, LORD Jesus… come. Amen.
Verses for Today: "I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you." — (Genesis 12:3)
"Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled." — (Luke 21:24)
"For I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers and sisters, so that you may not be conceited: Israel has experienced a hardening in part until the full number of the Gentiles has come in, and in this way all Israel will be saved." — (Romans 11:25-26)
"Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: 'May those who love you prosper. May peace be within your walls, security within your citadel.'" — (Psalm 122:6-7)
"So the LORD will comfort Zion and have compassion on all her ruins... The LORD will surely gather you from all the lands." — (Isaiah 51:3; Jeremiah 31:10)
