When Days Gang Up!

LORD Jesus, You have heard me say how I try to take one day and one problem at a time. But it is true—sometimes several days and problems gang up on me all at once. This is sorta like today.

However, I'm putting on the brakes and asking You for a refreshed and revitalized mind, so I will be able to sort out what is important and what is not. In its natural condition, my mind easily gets stuck on trivial matters.

Help me sort out all the "A" issues on my list today and focus on them. I know the minute I start enumerating my thoughts to You, I gain traction and can move on to more important things. Focus all of me on all of You today, Sweet Jesus, because I ask this in Your holy name. Amen.

Verses for Today:

For a renewed mind:

"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." — Romans 12:2

"You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you." — Isaiah 26:3

For sorting priorities:

"Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her." — Luke 10:41-42

For casting our cares:

"Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you." — 1 Peter 5:7

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." — Philippians 4:6-7

For focus:

"Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith." — Hebrews 12:2

Devotional Thought

I've preached 'one day at a time' for years—but sometimes the days stack up anyway. Health, family, ministry, worries—all arriving at once. Here's what I'm learning: the moment I start talking it out with Jesus—listing it, laying it out—I gain traction. Prayer isn't magic, but it sure sorts the urgent from the trivial. Focus all of me on all of You, Sweet Jesus. The rest will fall into place.
