Father, Too often I'm like most people—grown-ups and kids alike—scurrying around trying to do things my own way. Sometimes You have given me huge successes; at other times, I've failed miserably.
But when I think either successes or failures are THE reality, I miss out on what life is supposed to be—an adventure with You. Help me pray all day today: "OK LORD, what's next?" Show me today's adventure and keep me grateful for any and all of the outcomes, because I'm doing it with You. Amen and Amen!!
Verses for Today:
For surrendering control:
"Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight." — Proverbs 3:5-6
For life as adventure:
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." — Jeremiah 29:11
For daily dependence:
"Each day has enough trouble of its own." — Matthew 6:34
"Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom." — Psalm 90:12
For gratitude in all things:
"Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." — 1 Thessalonians 5:18
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him." — Romans 8:28
Devotional Thought
Brothers and sisters, I'll tell you something: I've been successful, and I've failed miserably. But I've discovered that neither defines me. Only Jesus does. When I stop scurrying and start asking 'OK LORD, what's next?' that's when I find the adventure. That's when grace shows up. Let's try this today—one day at a time, one question at a time, together."
