From Empty Ritual to Awe

LORD Jesus, I listened to a stuffy church service this morning and I felt empty. Not because of the people, not because of the music—but because the spirit felt distant.

Instead of thinking of You in boring, repetitive ways, I want to ponder Your glorious greatness!

I mean—You spoke the world into existence. No hands. No gadgets. No fanfare. Just said the words—and it all came to pass. Let there be light. And there was. That is power beyond comprehension.

You formed people in Your own image and gave us eternal souls. Not clones. Not automatons. Us. With names. With stories. With purposes only we can fulfill.

You created beauty in the world and throughout the universe, and somehow it all hangs together running like a well-oiled machine. The tides obey. The sun rises. The seasons turn. And none of it needs permission—it just obeys the order You laid down.

Sometimes I am embarrassed because I take so much for granted.

I am watching my fingers on the keyboard right now, and I am amazed that my brain can tell my fingers what to do—and they respond in real time. No lag. No glitch. Just a seamless connection between thought and motion. That is You. That is design. That is genius at the microscopic level.

Thank You for Your amazing creation in all its grandeur and glory. From the galaxy to the neuron. From the mountain to the mouse. From the sunrise to the typing of these words.

Help me to take good care of the part You have entrusted to me—my body, my mind, my family, my time—for the sake of Your Kingdom to come and the new heaven and the new earth when You return.

Thank You. Amen.
