Is there another Great Awakening ahead?

By Dick Ivey · 2026-07-21

Father God, As I read through the Bible this year, the biggest thing I see is how Your Hand of blessing and/or judgment is woven through all of Biblical history. The cycle is unmistakable:

Prosperity → Apostasy → Punishment → Repentance → Deliverance → Begin Again.

It is evident even in a casual reading. You have blessed our nation over our 250-year history, and yet the seeds of apostasy have sprouted everywhere I turn these days.

How long will You remain patient with our slipping away from the principles upon which our nation was founded? How long before the cycle turns to punishment?

Please, Father—send us another Great Awakening in our land while Your heavy hand of judgment hangs over us. Do not let the powers of evil continue to creep into all levels of life. Turn the hearts of our people back to You.

We do not deserve revival. But we ask for it anyway, because You are merciful, and because You have done it before.

I beg this in the strong and powerful name of Jesus, my LORD. Amen.

Verses for Today: "In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes." — (Judges 21:25)

"Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people." — (Proverbs 14:34)

"Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?" — (Psalm 85:6)

"When the righteous triumph, there is great elation; but when the wicked rise to power, people go into hiding." — Proverbs 28:12 (NIV)

"But if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. But if you turn away and forsake the decrees and commands I have given you... I will uproot them from my land." — 2 Chronicles 7:14, 19-20 (NIV)
