Father, God, please help me to have a gentle heart and a sweet spirit. Sometimes I am too quick to take offense at small slights.
The old sinful nature is always too close to the surface, and when I am tempted to revert to old and sinful ways, please draw me back.
Give me a heart like yours, make me slow to anger, quick to be loving, anxious to be forgiving and gentle in word and deed.
This I humbly pray, in and for the strong, but gentle name of Jesus. Amen.
