O, my Father, my heart aches as I see the pictures of the hostages in Gaza being held up by eager and fearful family members.
I pray for a change of heart by their captors, strength for the captives, and for a massive change of heart brought about by a wholesale turning to You in faith in Adonai and Yeshua Hamaschiac, in whose names I life this prayer. Amen
Verses for Today: According to Isaiah 61:1, the Spirit of the Almighty Lord is with the prophet to deliver good news to humble people, heal those who are brokenhearted, and announce that captives will be set free and prisoners will be released.2 Luke 4:14-21 states that Jesus has come to proclaim release to the captives, recovery of sight to the blind, and to let the oppressed go free. The reference to “the year of the Lord’s favor” refers to something called the “Year of Jubilee” described in Leviticus 25. It is one of the most grace-filled passages in the Torah, declaring that every 50 years the captives were to literally be released – the oppressed literally set free.0 The passage also mentions that Jesus will open blind eyes, bring out prisoners from the dungeon, and those who dwell in darkness from the prison.
